How I Paid for KFC Malaysia Promo with Cypher Virtual Card (Real Web3 Use Case)

This morning while scrolling Facebook, I saw KFC Malaysia running a Father’s Day promo. 9 pieces of fried chicken for RM36.90. Since I haven’t tested my Cypher Card on KFC’s online system yet, I decided to give it a try for lunch.

Saw the Promo on Facebook

The ad popped up right on my Facebook feed. From 13th to 15th June 2025, 10 AM to 10 PM, KFC is offering 9 pieces of chicken for RM36.90. The offer is valid for Self-Collect, In-Store, and Drive-Thru orders at most outlets nationwide excluding Mall of Medini, Genting Highlands, and airport outlets.

My Lunch at KFC Sri Jati

I headed over to KFC Sri Jati around lunchtime. I placed my order using the KFC app, chose Self-Collect, selected the 9-piece Original Recipe, and locked in the deal.

For payment, I used my Cypher virtual card directly inside the app. Just entered the card details like a normal debit card. The payment went through instantly and charged exactly RM36.90 ($8.94 USD). No extra fees and no failed transactions.

Why Use Cypher Card?

I always try to bring crypto into my daily life. My Cypher Card is topped up using the USD I earn online from Web3, ads, freelance, airdrops and I can easily spend it locally.

RM36.90 feels lighter when you realize it’s only $8.94 coming from your Web3 or USD income. This is one of the real benefits of earning globally but spending locally.

Virtual vs Physical Cypher Card

One small difference that new users may not know:

  • The Cypher virtual card is shown as a yellow card in your Cypher dashboard.
  • The physical card is shown as a white card in your dashboard.
  • Virtual card is free to activate after completing KYC.
  • Physical card requires a one-time $50 USD payment if you want to order it.

For most daily online spending, the virtual card is already sufficient and very convenient.

Extra Bonus: Double Reward Points

Because I used Self-Collect on the KFC app, I earned 2X KFC reward points too. A small bonus but nice to stack for future meals.

Quick Summary

  • What I bought: 9 pieces of KFC fried chicken
  • Price paid: RM36.90 ($8.94 USD)
  • Where: KFC Sri Jati
  • When: 15 June 2025
  • Payment method: Cypher virtual card (online payment in KFC app)
  • Bonus: 2X KFC reward points

My Takeaway

Crypto payments in Malaysia are no longer just for trading or holding. You can literally use it for everyday spending, like paying for KFC lunch.

The best part is converting the USD I earn online into daily spending here in Malaysia. A small but real example of how Web3 income makes life more practical.
